Two Hearts Are Better Then One

Then in the beat of a heartbeat, (well, really two) our whole world changed.  Our world became a whirlwind.  We lived in the town where we went to high school.  We owned two homes in town and the one we lived in had a pool.  Our children were involved in every recreational sport they could join.  And, there was chorus, band concerts, and school plays to attend.  It was the good life.  I remember how emotional I would get at many shows.  I cried like a baby the first one.  Their recorder concert was another story.   Out of anyone in my family, I knew my dad would really enjoy it.  He was in the middle stages of Alzhiemers and I had to get up several times to bring him back to our seats.  That was the last show he attended.  We lost my dad when my children were eleven.  My mom and brother joined us every holiday.  We rarely went out unless we could walk there, and be close by.  And, we would go to fundraisers.  By the time the children were two, we were able to go on  cruises, and many wonderful destinations.  I felt joy, again.  But, I have to say, I was also in a zone.  I was really focused getting through everyday life, I didn't really think of much else.  I didn't have to.  I was in awe this whole time of what Glen and I created.  I am still completely and totally in awe and so totally grateful.
Glen and I were working a lot.  We made a two bedroom one bath home, into a three bedroom, two level and three bathroom home.  It was a lot to keep up with.  We had beautiful gardens with hydrangea bushes and lilac trees.  We would plant a vegetable garden every summer.  We really had an abundant life, and again I am so thankful.
Their shows introduced us to hearing music in a whole new way.  The Christmas chorus concerts even brought alumni to the stage to sing "Hallelujah".  And, we were told this was a worldwide tradition and it was being sung by many schools all at the same time.  Then Kaylyn in the senior year of high school became the lead in "Suessical".  I lost my job, where I had worked full-time for nine years.  We were able to go every night and throw the cast party.  Every night Kaylyn as Mayzie would sing the song: " How Lucky You Are".  And, it would ring true, even though I really knew how lucky we were.  And, during the cast party, Ian was in charge of the music.  I had so much fun watching these kids dance and have fun.  Celebrating the hard work that goes into putting on a play.  I went up to Ian and asked for a song dedicated to all the moms.  And, he played "Mama Mia" by Abba.  I smiled the biggest smile in my life and danced my heart out.  That night just said so many things to me.  I was so full of gratefulness.  Ironically after a few years we sold our house, and the family of boy who played "The Cat in the Hat" now resides there.

Quote of the Day:  Lyrics from What a Wonderful World

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful worldWriter/s: Robert Thiele, George Douglas, George David Weiss
