Collecting Memories

Image
I had a short visit to the Baltimore Museum of Art. There is a new exhibition called A Modern Influence: Matisse Etta Cone and Baltimore. I couldn't wait to see this exhibition! It did not disappoint. I am fascinated by the Cone sisters and their collection of Modern Art including a huge collection of Impressionism and Post Impressionism. They were avid collectors and had relationships with Matisse and Picasso. Matisse was always my favorite. The first time I saw the Cone Collection I found their collection very feminine. But, I really didn't pay much attention to it. Then with each visit I would pay more attention to a room the museum recreated from their apartment, which was nearby to the museum. Then I started reading everything I could find about them. So, to have this exhibit totally devoted to the relationship with Matisse, I was excited. It didn't disappoint. Opening New Doors

Today is my mother's birthday. It is also the birthday of one my best friends. We met at Georgian Court College. We loved going to Art Exhibitions together. Our favorites were Van Gogh and Gaugain, but also enjoyed Georgia O'Keefe and Degas. We visited sunflower farms the last couple of years and named ourselves "Sunflower Soul Sisters". I always loved this picture. It is taken in a store in Phoenix Arizona. A store that was furnished in a way I would always like to decorate in. Very feminine and included a whole section in memory keeping or scrapbooking. I am wearing a shirt for Creative Escape, which was one my favorite vacations I took with a friend. The classes were for memory keeping, but also the teachers were so relatable. It is where I learned about 21 day challenges to break a habit. Or a class using a big deck of cards with quotes like: 'What would you do if you knew you would not fail." A class making Paris scrapbook pages, but had not ever been there. But, rubber stamping the pages I imagined being there with my daughter. And, a year later my daughter and I celebrated New Year's Eve in Paris, Fran
