Making Things Happen

This is the first Monday I have felt this hopeful in a long time. I think it is because I was able to get out a couple of days in a row and talk to girlfriends and kindred spirits. Either by phone or in person to talk some things out really helps. I even got through the question...."What are you doing?". Later found out there is a word for it called Plorking (playing and working). I definitely had a break through in my art, on ebay and organizing the basement. I know in a couple of months or even by Easter I will be so much better off then I am today. And, that feels victorious or even triumphant to me. This world is going to be a different place, by the time we are all ready to be a part of it again. And, it's good to see and hear everyone's spirit and views. It was really good to have some real loud belly laughs. I showed a picture above of some sea glass I covered with a blue and white design. It was because I always want to find some blue and white pottery shards washed up from the sea. So, I did find one piece a couple of weeks ago. But, by making these it was satisfying. So, if I have a feeling I can't do something, I figure out a way to make it happen. What a great feeling. In my Art and my sleep for that matter. It is a little harder. It is sort of out of my control. But, with not just doing the right thing for a while and giving up. I am proud of myself for sticking with a project for 30 days and knowing the next 70 will be just as enjoyable. My sleep has gotten a little better, and all I can do is hope it improves. I never thought of myself as controlling. I thought I went with the flow. But, surprising as it may be, I can't control what I create, sometimes I am just not happy with it. And, I can do all the right things to get a good night sleep, and end up just sleeping 2 hours. Quote of the day: WOW! A new dawn.....a new day

 I love Sunday mornings.  I love to reflect on the past week and look forward to the start of another.  What I learned this week painting, was what working on the minis, made me realize.  The first one I was looking at the flower more while painting and by the third I felt more free and the brush just took me to the painting.  I was in more of a flow.  So, the more time I take, the less I had to think about it, and could just enjoy it happening.  Like life, right? I learned from the computer there is a park in Roosevelt Island called Four Freedoms and currently has a staircase covered in a huge image of sunflowers in a field celebrating the 100th year of the womens' vote. It is also in Eleanor Roosevelt's honor.  So, I'll be sharing a lot of her quotes.  It was a good week for Ian as he was featured in a cover story in the Tri-City news.  Kaylyn  is busy working and taking good care of my grandson.  He is growing fast and has six big painful teeth already!   Love seeing all

Two Hearts Are Better Then One

Then in the beat of a heartbeat, (well, really two) our whole world changed.  Our world became a whirlwind.  We lived in the town where we went to high school.  We owned two homes in town and the one we lived in had a pool.  Our children were involved in every recreational sport they could join.  And, there was chorus, band concerts, and school plays to attend.  It was the good life.  I remember how emotional I would get at many shows.  I cried like a baby the first one.  Their recorder concert was another story.   Out of anyone in my family, I knew my dad would really enjoy it.  He was in the middle stages of Alzhiemers and I had to get up several times to bring him back to our seats.  That was the last show he attended.  We lost my dad when my children were eleven.  My mom and brother joined us every holiday.  We rarely went out unless we could walk there, and be close by.  And, we would go to fundraisers.  By the time the children were two, we were able to go on  cruises, and many

My World in Blue and White Project

This is a blog post about the first three months of 2021 during a pandemic. I am a work in process and have learned most of all the importance of living in the moment. I have learned a LOT from doing daily practices. Making goals in my Ebay shop. Learning about Women Artists and taking some classes. Clearing out the past of "stuff" in my basement. And, best of all being the best "4 year old self" possible. I am going to list Five links of Women who have influenced me the most in living life in the moment and creating daily practices. Their resources are mostly free and have endless amounts of inspiration. My main goal is to do this with the resources I already have on hand and keep the costs down as much as possible.
