Create a Cozy Corner
Christmas is a day of celebration. And yes Virginia, it will be a little different this year. But, being home for the holidays is always a welcome part of the season for me. A place to rest and feel at peace, surrounded by my favorite things. I do love decorating for Christmas. It does come with some stress for me. So, I started early this year. The last couple of years I have really gotten into Hallmark Christmas movies. TV has always been a big part of my Christmas traditions. In the beginning all the shows were black and white. But, as I got older the Christmas shows have gotten more colorful and realistic. They are more relatable, buy yet still a fantasy. Which is what Christmas really is. Christmas was never perfect. In my household it wasn't. But, it was what we made of it.
This year spending a lot of time home alone. I do get to watch more Christmas shows then ever. I used to buy snacks at Trader Joes to keep until we had company or the actual day of Christmas. Not any more. I love to make some hot chocolate and grab a favorite snack ( have you been lucky enough to snag a tin of jingle jangle from Trader Joes) and sit and watch a Christmas movie.
Talking about what is better this year, that I didn't have to pay for. A couple of months ago our cable line was cut by workers taking out a bush in front of our house. I had to wait for someone from Comcast to come to replace it. Well, it ended up he gave us a free voice controlled remote. In the beginning of the year I looked into getting one, but there was a cost. I felt we didn't need it so bad. Well, if you have the opportunity to get one it is worth it! We were using two remotes and hooking my computer up to watch movies from apps etc. Now, I could just say Christmas Chronicles and it will take me to the app directly. I saw there was a Christmas Chronicles Two coming out, and I hadn't seen the first one yet. So, I was looking forward to seeing them both. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are both their adorable selves and the music is by Steven Van Zandt and the Deciples of Soul. The second one features Darlene Love and she performs the song Christmas Spirit.
So, this year I decided to really savor my little corner. I bought some comfy pillows, decorated a wreath, and added a favorite little table with one of my favorite putz houses which is pink! I love it, and I couldn't wait to say Hallmark movie into the remote last night, when I realized Glen had a meeting at the firehouse.
So, I hope you are kind to yourself and create a cozy corner, too. A candle, comfy blanket are an added touch, so all five senses are involved in creating the perfect relaxing space for yourself.
