Building Businesses Brady Style

I love that I can google my grandfather and have numerous images come up. I have always been so proud of my grandfather. He is my mother's father, and the reason we landed growing up in Spring Lake, New Jersey. He started as a cart boy for Grand Union and with no college education ended his career as Vice President of Grand Union supermarkets. He retired and owned a weekly newspaper called the Florida Grocer. He had style! He is in the picture to the left, always with a bow tie! He also wrote a book called Supermarket Routes. Anyway, my niece who named her son Brady (My Grandfather was William Brady) just started a business called Brady's Bricks. Brady is 12 and a very talented Lego builder. He has been building adult size buildings for years, and he is very quick. He is also very polite, kind and helpful. For example, while his mom and his aunt and I were chatting outside a restaurant. He opened the door for all who entered or exited. So, I already know he is going to be super helpful with this new business venture. My two neices are who I went to Disney with in August. They are two very strong women and admirable. They lost their dad to a massive heart attack when he was only 42. Brady's mom is a single mom who survived ovarian cancer right after my brother had died. She has worked very hard in a career as a pastry chef at Whole Foods and a dealer in a casino. But, the effects of the cancer treatment and child care caught up with her. She had a very successful business on Amazon. She decided to invest in a lazer machine and had started a business. I can't wait to get some orders in for gifts. Living alone with the holidays quickly approaching can be difficult. I indulged in something for myself this year. It is an advent calender from Lauduree with parisian sweets. I am kinda obsessed with Lauderee. It is a french bakery and confectionery store originating in Paris. I became familiar with it from social media and artists who would paint pictures of macarons. I collected a few cookbooks. And, when Kaylyn and I visited Paris in 2008, it was high on my list of places to visit. It had a line outside and it was very cold. Take Joy

I finished the wreath! I haven't been able to accomplish so much in one day in a lonnnng time. Bought a tree and had it decorated by 3pm! I am amazed and found joy in doing it. Here is something I read in the beginning of December, which always helps: I salute you. I am your friend, and my love for you goes deep. There is nothing I can give you which you have not. A new dawn.....a new day

 I love Sunday mornings.  I love to reflect on the past week and look forward to the start of another.  What I learned this week painting, was what working on the minis, made me realize.  The first one I was looking at the flower more while painting and by the third I felt more free and the brush just took me to the painting.  I was in more of a flow.  So, the more time I take, the less I had to think about it, and could just enjoy it happening.  Like life, right? I learned from the computer there is a park in Roosevelt Island called Four Freedoms and currently has a staircase covered in a huge image of sunflowers in a field celebrating the 100th year of the womens' vote.
